Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays and Best Wishes

As we look back on our year in shock that today is already Christmas, we are truly blessed. I am thankful for what caching has brought to my life…first and foremost it paired me up with my life’s co-pilot, Balkamper13. It seems like yesterday when I had 6 finds and one hide and met Ted at the caching event and the rest has been all smiley’s.

Next, we have met the most wonderful people and love the adventures we share with all of them. Caching has also laid the foundation for Ted and I to utilize our talents and put together great events and caches. We love setting goals together and meeting them as well as challenging ourselves to do better all of the time.

We wanted to say THANK YOU! Thanks for supporting our passion and making our days so full of happiness. Merry Christmas and I wanted to share this picture I found on Facebook…It spoke to me and I hope it does the same for you! May God Bless and to all a good find!

HOLY SWEET CACHE

Searching For Mr. Cache

On my birthday were on our way back to our hotel in St. George after seeing Plaid Tidings and going to Mesquite when we decided to stop for this cache. On a chili dark night 272 miles from home in the middle of the Desert we were lucky enough to find http://coord.info/GC1J3B5 Searching for Mr.
Cache. Half of the fun was going on what appears to be an off road trail with our rental car and then ending up in the pitch black desert after midnight. Once we were within 80 or so feet of GZ the search turned into a foot search.

After searching for MR. Cache this is what was found! Who knew in the middle of the dessert such a cool cache has survived since 11-2008. This cache has 34 favorite points and this is why. It is worth the scary feeling of being in the desert at night and well worth the hunt. This earns a HOLY SWEET CACHE for sure!
It just goes to show there are cachers that throw an awesome hide in areas where you might not expect it. Thanks Jones84790 this cache is SUPIE AWESOME!

If you are ever near Arizona…this is a must find! Happy Caching!
And to all a good find!

WE LOVE SWAG!

Personalized SWAG Ideal

bs

We love going to a cache and finding personalized SWAG. It gives you something to smile about. We also collect it and pin it to our SWAG boards. We will feature those in another post. This post is to give you some ideals to make some of your own personal SWAG.

We have a great friend that we got into caching and of course she picked the name DollFace as her caching name and that has been a fun name to make SWAG with. She was heading to Arizona and needed some SWAG for the trip so we had a SWAG making night and these are the results.

Supplies for Personalized SWAG:

  • SWAG Items, pick up from Dollar Store or Craft Store, Some people also recycle SWAG from other caches for personalized SWAG
  • Jewelry baggies, we get ours from craft store and use coupons or from the dollar store when they are in stock.
  • Computer and Printer, plain or colored paper

bs1bs2Use a flower and print “ YOUR CACHING NAME, then…I am Glad I Peddled over to this Beautiful Cache.”

On Felt Frog Stickers: “DollFace had a hopping good time finding this cache. It is Leaps and Bounds above the rest!”

bs8 bs4

  • One Felt Owls, YOUR CACHING NAME: thought this cache was a real HOOT!
  • Pearl beads, YOUR CACHING NAME: thought this cache was a real treasure.

bs5bs6

  • On a mini clothes pin: YOUR CACHING NAME: was “Clothes” to missing this super cache. Glad I “Pinned” this one down.
  • Felt Monkey Faces: YOUR CACHING NAME: I am glad I didn’t Monkey Around and took the time to find this cache.

bs7bs9bs10

  • On Glow in the dark plastic stars: YOUR CACHING NAME: is Stary Eyed over this glowing cache.
  • When you sit down to make your own, be creative and make LOTS, It is easier to print a lot at once rather than just one sheet. Happy caching, Hope you are inspired to make some of your own! If you do, please share your finished product.

The Before X-mas Geocache Exchange Event

December 15, 2012 Our Event

Wow, these things just keep getting better. We have a new caching addiction, hosting events. It is so much fun to plan and see everyone come together and enjoy the fun afterwards.

This event had everything from Oversized Birdhouses made by Glassguy to an Octopus filled Fear Factor episode lead by Mr. Simpson and special Christmas gifts from Goatter & Chris Geertzen. There were too many memorable moments to highlight but none of them will be forgotten.

Everyone was asked to bring a cache ready to hide to exchange and WOW, people went all out. We had the best exchange I have seen! To keep everyone guessing we played the Left/Right game to a story I wrote about caching and included names of the cachers that attended, when I said their names they stood up. We all sat in a circle and whenever I said Left you passed the cache in your hand to the left and did the same whenever I said right. It was funny to see how a few of the cachers had a hard time with left and right, next time I will include east and west. The game left such a great impression on the guests that FireElemental left the following log, Had a great time! Had some good food and talked with some good friends! Water had a "RIGHT" on time and I "LEFT" with a great collection of cache container to place! As we "LEFT" the event I told some cachers, LV2WJ, to expect a fun challenge to get to one of those caches! "RIGHT" as we pulled out of the parking lot I realized that we had just "LEFT" one of the funniest events of the year! Thanks to LV2WJ for the awesome gift! Thanks to Ted and Darcy for an awesome event!”

Caching Left/Right Christmas Cache Exchange Game…

RIGHT after Thanksgiving Balkamper13 reminded me we have a lot Left on our things left to do Right before Christmas List. Right as he reminded me  of the  things left on our to do list, Blue  Rajaha  published a FTF. naturally my  focus went right to the new cache Chris Geertzen left. My first thought Right after the listing was, this list of things we have left to do right before Christmas can wait! We have to leave RIGHT now to beat The SIMPSONS  who have Left behind their old phone and bought the RIGHT smart phone for the FTF race. OR, RN&TERRIER  might have left the trail of the L&L Killer to get on the right track for this FTF. Right then G&C Lost’N’Found & Ryshkeper popped Right into my mind, they have left ther names right on the ftf line of many caches. Right then, memories of ftf hunts where right out of nowhere Glassguy, Snooby, Tjc852 and various other cachers (goatter) appear left a huge impact on my quest to get right to the FTF. We then convinced McAwesome, Glowingman, Swaggette, Spybot13 and dollface to call my Dad and tell he we would be right over to visit after we left our names right on the ftf line of the new cache. We then Left. Right as we were leaving we realized we left our swag bag inside the house right in the left hand side of the right corner closet. We quickly went right into grab it and Left. Finally as we turned right out of the neighborhood, we spotted a car right in front of us with a travel bug sticker right on the spare tire case. We knew it had to be LV2WJ so we looked left and saw Right in the window and realized it looked more like DEbjohn but on her right was not Auzziedogs so we were left wondering who it was. We decided it was not right to stare so we left whomever it was in the dust. We followed our GPS it lead us to a right, another right and one more right. This left us 2 streets away from the right coords. We were right within 20 feet of GZ. So we left our cars running and jumped right out. When we did we noticed other cars nearby. We were left wondering if it was TuxxJ or Fire Elemental or Dumbledoresarmy2006, or various other cachers (Goatter) Oh I knew I had to get back on the right track & stop worrying who left their cars behind and get right back to the FTF. We found the cache and looked right to the log to see if anyone had beat us and left their names right on the FTF line of the log, Nope. Much to our surprise the log was blank and ready for us to right our names right on the ftf spot of the log. We were on cloud nine! We felt like we GOTWINGS and flew on the WINDBENEATH them right to this cache. As we left the cache right where we found it, right before our eyes, Various cachers (Goatter) showed up. So we did the right thing and we all left our names as a shared ftf. After this right-on fun adventure Balkamper13 & I got right back to the things left to do right before christmas list.

This story can be adapted to any caching community….of and thanks to ours…as I was typing, I realized you traded caches around 70 times….wow good sports!

After the event a group of us went out and cached together. It was a lot of fun and the snow made it even better…for snow ball fights. Thanks for all that made this event amazing.

Happy Caching and Holidays! And to all a great Find!

12-12-12 Day of CACHING FUN!

One of the best caching and event days in this 1000 years!

Wow we had such a blast! We hit two events and found some fun caches. Wanted to find 12 but we didn’t make our goal due to the extra fun we found. We started out at the 12-12-12 event hosted by Oakcoins at 12:12 pm. It was a great turn out and got to visit with lots of cachers from other areas.

This Picture was out front of the Oak Coins store. Great group! The pics below are also from same event. We got a 12-12-12 rainbow glow in the dark coin and on the middle is a picture of the 64 different coins made for 12-12-12 events all over. We also thought it would be fun to show the huge geocoin and some of the pins and trackables we saw. We had so much fun and then we were off to grab a few smileys and the kids for the next 12-12-12 event also by Oakcoins. WOW hosting 2 events in one day, I bet thy are glad 12-12-12 is only once every century! Thanks guys, great event!

Gathering a few Smiles before next event. We really should gather some rest…but this day only comes once in a century so no rest for us. Next…pictures from night evnt at Boondocks, so much fun, it was so much fun we missed the 3rd event we had planned for the day. It was a cookie and tea party, so I have been eating cookies for days.
12-12-12-6
This event had everything from pizza to Pink Flamingo travel bugs. Fire Elemental’s truck looked lonely while we were insode racing go carts and waiting for our tickets to be drawn in a raffle. So Ted and I passed Pinky the travel bug along to him. We also exchanged Travel Bug numbers as well as enjoyed our friends, pictured above is Glassguy, the Simpson’s, Mzblubrd, Glowingman and Jax from Cacheseekers! Thanks again OakCoins for super fun day of events!

Moisture control idea & Sneak Peak @ Cache exchange

We all know moisture and water is enemy #1 when it comes to a cache container. Nothing is worse than finding a great cache and it has been attacked by water and moisture. In order to help keep your cache and log dry try adding a moisture buster. Silica packets are a great barrier. You don’t have to invest a lot of money, just save the ones you find in shoe boxes, beef jerky packets and any other items you buy that have them in it. They are super cheap if you do want to buy some, either way they help absorb moisture in your cache container. So next time you are building a cache, slip one in the baggie with the log or inside of your cache and try it out. If any of you have had success with this idea, let us know.blogmoisture

Bonus Post:

We are getting ready for our December event and it is going to be a lot of fun. http://coord.info/GC41HQG Before Christmas Geocache Exchange Event. This will be a fun event and all cachers that attend will be given a fabulous door prize including a cache ready to hide and then we will be trading ready to hide caches. All cachers that want to participate will need to bring a wrapped ready to hide non micro cache. We will then play a trading game to a story about caching to see what cache each cacher ends up with. We are working on a few ready to hide, creative cahes and below is a sneak peak we are planning on bringing to the event for the cache trading part of the event. We LOVE hosting events and seeing our caching friends. This event will be one of the best yet, we have some great things planned. Make sure if you have not logged a will attend on the cache page, you do so soon. We want to make sure we have enough door prizes, also if we get over 35 attendees, the restaurant will give us a 10% discount per person…great way to say a bit on Lunch right before Christmas! Merry caching and hope to see everyone at the Before Christmas Geocache Exchange Event! blogchristmas

GeoCacher Gift Ideal…

Christmas is approaching and if your shopping list is filled with caching friends and family we have a great ideal for you! We have been long time customers of Vista Print and they are doing a special right now for 250 free business cards and a free self inking stamp.

I am sure that does not sound too exciting, but it is. The business cards can be personalized for geocaching and instead of entering address and contact info, we like to add a Thanks for the Cache, or a cache saying along with our names and state and drop them in caches. It is great for personalized SWAG. We also love finding caching cards because we have SWAG boards that we display signature items on and we have a lot of “caching/business” cards.

The stamp is a very helpful caching tool, once again instead of an address we put our caching name/names and they fit perfect on a log sheet. People always ask us where we got the stamp because it is so handy. It is self inking so no need to carry around an ink pad and it is small enough for a pocket, purse or SWAG bag. We have made a few different stamps, ones with just our individual caching name, ones with our caching name and other cachers we cache with often, so when we find a cache all we have to do is stamp the log and we all get the smiley! Also perfect for Power Runs!

I am not sure how long the special is running but I just ordered another stamp and set of 250 business cards and it cost me $8.35 for shipping and handling. The estimated date of arrival is Dec 22, 2012 just in time for Christmas. You can pay more for expedited shipping. This is a screaming deal and gift. The business cards are usually around ten dollars and the stamps are around thirteen dollars.

Here is a picture of the offer and then 4 of the free cards we have made, then a business card magnet and then the stamp and an example of how it looks on the log sheet.  vistaprintpost

Here is the link to the special:

Ordering Hints:

  • To keep it free don’t upload your own photos
  • Don’t select extras *ie, glossy finish, special fonts
  • The free stamp offer is after you build your cards all of the way, right before check out. Is Bonus offers
  • When creating business cards you have to enter something in every field or go to every box and hit backspace. For example if you don’t do that, your card might have “FAX” or “Email” on it. Learned that the hard way.
  • Think outside of the BOXES…you don’t have to enter a fax or phone or address…Enter your favorite saying, your state, how long you have been caching, a message to cache owner be creative.
  • Have fun…for example we made a set for our friend DollFace and used the housecleaning business card. We had it read, “DOLLFACE was glad to clean through the clues and find this sparkling cache.”  We made another one with the Lawn Mowing business card and it read, :Glad we “CUT” through the clues and “Mowed” on over to find this Cache”

Merry Christmas and if you have any questions, we will gladly help if you do make any we would love to see the pictures to share with our readers!

Happy Caching!
