Holy Sweet Cache

Shipwrecked!                                       GCK4GB

This holy sweet cache is actually one that we had to log a DNF on but the location of it was worth the look. Shipwrecked! GCK4GB is located on Lopez Island, Washington. There are a few ways you can get to ground zero. You can walk from the parking area and its a great .25 mile walk or you could take a boat or kayak ride in. We took the walking route and found a few other great caches along the way. Here's a few links to them.

Once you get to the coordinates you find yourself surrounded the sight of five weathered broken beached boats. It makes your mind wonder how did all these get here. I'm thinking it was a large storm and the damage was too great for them to be salvaged. Darcey and myself had a blast climbing round all the pieces and looking for the hide.

One of the wrecks was a very old looking barge type of boat. It looked like they just fastened a bunch of big driftwood logs together for the bottom. That one made me think of all the old cartoons where the characters would fasten trees together to get off the island. Even though we were unable to make the find on the cache we had to share it. The owner has replaced the hide since we logged our DNF and we cant wait to go back and get the smiley. If you get a chance to go geocaching on these islands this is one that I would recommend searching for.

Along the walk out to the cache you go through some cool wetlands that have all kinds of wildlife. We saw countless types of birds and even a few bald eagles. After passing the wetlands you have to walk a little ways along the beach area. We had fun looking for little white egglet rocks, and shells.

Moral of this adventure is, GO CACHE the San Juan Islands in Washington.

So how is everyone doing on SOUVENIRS?

SO MUCH TO CATCH UP ON, WE ARE BACK! LIVE LOVE CACHE IS HERE TO STAY, WE MISSED YOU!

Hello Cachers,

We have been missing you and our blog. We are so sorry we have been away for so long. Life has been happening, even though Caching should be the #1 life event, sometimes work (the railroad), Kids, new houses and just plain living take up our time. So much has happened in the time we have been away, Events, 8000 mark for Balkamper13, new caches, caching trips, and much more, However one of the highlights was finding the GUM WALL CACHE!

This cache is 700.6 miles from our home and this created a problem, we could only search for it when in Seattle. Luckily our daughter lives near by and it’s on the way to our parents house in Friday Harbor, Washington. This cache is also one of the grossest caches we have ever searched for but after hours and hours of poking other people’s gum, it doesn’t seem to bother you anymore. My daughter was a bit grossed out by the amount of Gum I usually had in my hair after we looked for the cache. After looking each time we sanitized and threw away our items we used to poke our way around the Gum Wall.
The above pictures are from May 6th 2015
Pictures below are DNF’s at different dates
We have oodles more pictures of our DNF’s, don’t want this post to turn into a family photo album of defeat!
This cache is worthy of a HOLY SWEET CACHE.
We normally save this honor for caches that are larger, but this cache was creative and fun and had that oooohhhhh factor. Plus when we did find it, I cried, when we didn't find it I cried, so crying factor=HOLY SWEET CACHE
I do think it should be a level 5/5 due to the number of possible diseases one could contract and the amount of money and time we invested...just kidding. This cache kicked our butts, and for that reason it is getting a Favorite vote on our site as our welcome back HOLY SWEET CACHE!
We have so many Caching things to catch you up on, the post will be coming and we promise we will not take such a long sabbatical from our BLOG ever again!
Please let us know if you have found this cache or have a cache that has cost you hundreds of dollars and countless hours. We want to see your comments and if you want to send a congratulations, it’s ok!
Plus, we would love a comment or two letting us know you know we are back!

Alicia Kuro you won a prize, you were the first person to leave a comment! Please see comments on how to claim prize...we will be announcing a new contest soon...stay tuned!

HOLY SWEET CACHE TARDIS 10 TB Vortex

tard  This Holy Sweet Cache is brought to you by the talented Halocure & Family halocure. GC4059W is their family project. It is so important to their family they even created a Facebook page just for this cache. I think any cache with it’s own Facebook page is a HOLY SWEET CACHE.

We first found this Holy Sweet Cache when it was a lot smaller, a micro to be exact. We still loved it because the FTF race was stiff on this one…between us and RN&Terrier, bad thing was she walked to the cache…ouch.
It was placed on October 27th 2012. Since then it has been the home to over 79 travel bugs. On 6/9/2013 this micro grew into a beautiful Travel Bug Hotel…nice size cache. This is one example of a cache that thought it could and did!

Halo spoke of the transformation, “the inspiration for turning it into a TB hotel was when I went to Michigan and found several really nice TB hotels that were locked and had TBs in them since they were more secure.”
This has been their family project. I also think a cache that brings a family together as a team is a HOLY SWEET CACHE. They love Dr. Who and it shows. The family just had their first path tag made and it goes with the cache theme:

Make sure you visit their Facebook page for this cache. https://www.facebook.com/tardis10tb.

We all know the government shut down today, however one great cacher was working overtime!

I was so excited when I saw this cache earlier in the day and then the headaches of the government shutting down took over my day. We didn’t have a chance to go after the FTF but we were able to go get it this evening.
We have found just under 10,000 caches between Balkamper13 & myself (Cacheseekers!) and very few have made us laugh out loud and keep laughing….this one did! This cache was perfectly planned and constructed WE LOVE THE NAME. We couldn’t figure out what the name meant until we saw it and it was so great! Pineapple? I think I can...I think I can-GC4PC70

This was CachinGrma’s third hide and so far it has a 100% favorite point ratio.WAY TO put time, thought and creativity into a cache. She just reached a milestone of 500 finds and started hiding caches. She has a great love for the game and the people that play it.
We had the pleasure of meeting CachinGrma at our Streaker's Ball after the 31 days of caching. She earned the Streaker’s Award and also a Sweetheart award for being so nice to fellow cachers on the trail.

Creative event: PIRATE GEOBASH - YO HO HO! HAPPY B-DAY CAP'N DAN!!

pirate00        Ahoy Matees…we must share our adventure at the best geocaching event we have attended GC4JQ26. On September 21st 2013 a beautiful canyon in Utah was filled with about a hundred pirates in search of some treasure and celebration for Railroader921’s 40th birthday party/geocaching event. Madambutterfly1822 & Railroader921 teamed up to host our most favorite event of all time.

Attendees were asked to dress like pirates and bring a side dish. When we arrived we were greeted by a feather and ink to sign an amazing log book. After signing in, Railroader921 & Madambutterfly1822 read a story of what we were to expect. It was so cute in a pirate accent. Below is the log book and story:

After the story we were given maps and gold pieces and send out on a letterboxing/caching mission. Madambutterfly1822 hand carved 8 stamps and set up 8 elaborate scenes. We were to visit all 8 places to get the 8 “Golden Seals”. The treasure map held the locations of: Talking Parrot Tavern, Cap’n Dangerous Dan, Cannibals’ Cove, Mermaid Lagoon, Shipwreck Reef, Hangman’s Tree, Fortune Teller and Sea Monster’s Lair. WOW….the locations were amazing and had special tasks at each one.

After we collected our Golden Seals we returned to the pavilion for Food, Friends, Fun and a Costume Contest. They served the most delicious hamburgers and hot dogs and all of the attendees brought tons of food. We especially loved the costume contest because Cacheseekers! was the winner. It was the first time she ever won a costume contest. It was a lot of fun, Captain Dan lined up all of those that were dressed up and walked by them and pointed his sword by them and the crowd cheered for the one they wanted to win. Balkamper13 & Cacheseekers! were the finalists…worth all of the preparation.

The prize for the best costume was a beautiful coin that was made for this event. THANK YOU…love it! After the costume contest people mingled and ate some more, sang Happy Birthday an listened to a heart felt speech from the birthday boy himself. It was very sweet and he discussed how geocaching changed his life and thanks us all. His cake was darling. The entire event was perfect.
Thanks again Madambutterfly1822 & Railroader921. Thanks again to Halocure for your great pictures and friendship. We can only wish our 40th birthday’s will be half as cool. Happy Birthday Dan!
