The fourth was defiantly in SLC, UTAH and COLORADO on May 4th. All I can say is, that was the best 4th I have ever had. Thanks to our caching family and new friends, including the sister wives aka: Smuggles.Yes we had muggles at the events, they like to be called Smuggles, I think it was because they were sexy muggles. With that said, we had boy scout troops, Workday employees, Geocaching Yodas, caching kids, retired cachers, families, BFFS, Lone Cachers, Dirtbaggers, Reviewers and Madambutterfly1822 & Railroader921. I doubt any day could get better. First event of the day was the Worldwide Flash Mob. I counted over 60 people at this event. We all met at the Peace Gardens and joined the WWFM X at the Peace Gardens

After the Flash Mob the real fun started. Before I share all of the details, let’s just say it involved some of the best caches I have ever found. Not one Micro! We then headed over to the GEOCACHING POKER RUN AND WHITE ELEPHANT PARTY. What a party it was! We are all given a card to stamp when we found different types of caches. Each cache had a stamp that we had to stamp in the box that matched the cache type there was a Cito Box, Multi 9 Stage Cache Box, Tradition Box, Puzzle Cache Box, Moving Cache Type and Event Box. This was not an easy task. We probably walked a good 4-5 miles and had some hard challenges.  After you found all the cache types you headed back to the pavilion and collected your poker cards. Once you had your hand the trading and shenanigans began.

This was Balkamper13 hiding the “Highest Hand” 5 sevens. If anyone wanted it they had to retrieve it. Needless to say no one got it. There was a lot of bartering and down right stealing of others cards. Made for a great time, we were playing for white elephant gifts. The highest had picked first, second highest picked second and so on. During all of this fun there was a BBQ and we also participated in an event in Colorado. Thank to HikingSeal we were able to chat with and watch event DGS: Yoda's Leap. It was our first streaming of an event and it was a blast. We loved sharing our events and enjoying other cachers, Thanks Hollie for all of your help! Picture of a tall guy at Colorado event at a little table. They had fun!

Here are some highlights from the SLC Events:

The moving cache was the Joker and MarshalOD was fantastic, at one point he had cachers chasing  him down to get the moving cache stamp. Others were the joker after him but he set the bar high. There are tie breaker pictures that did include, thumb wrestling, push ups and shoe & sock taking off. There was a decoy cache at the traditional cache that tricked us all, and the puzzle cache was HARD, some said evil! Madambutterfly1822 also was able to get a pin the signal on SIGNAL game from Groundspeak. What an amazing day. If any of you reading this attended, please leave your favorite moments as a comment.

Quick jokes and laughs

Quick jokes and laughs

Ok everyone we had a very busy day today with the Railroader921 and madambutterfly1822 events geocaching poker run and white elephant party GC48ZGW and WWFM X at the Peace Gardens GC48DZ0. They were some of the greatest events we have ever attended. But there was one problem. We didn’t have much time or energy left to post for the day. So while cacheseekers sleeps I will tell you a few quick jokes.
Here you go I hope you enjoy them.
CROSSING THE RIVER
One day, three men were geocaching and expectedly came upon a large raging, violent river. They needed to get to the other side, but had no idea
of how to do so.
The first man prayed to God, saying, "Please God, give me the strength to cross this river." Poof! God gave him big arms and strong legs, and he was
able to swim across the river in about two hours, after almost drowning a couple of times.
Seeing this, the second man prayed to God,saying, "Please God, give me the strength ..and the tools to cross this river." Poof! God gave him a rowboat and he was able to row across the river in about an hour, after
almost capsizing the boat a couple of times.
The third man had seen how this worked out for the other two, so he also prayed to God saying, "Please God, give me the strength and the tools...and the intelligence ... to cross this river." And poof! God turned him into a woman. She looked at the map, hiked upstream a couple of hundred yards, then walked across the bridge. smil2 Ok here’s another one for you. This time it’s the ladies turn to get picked on.   These two girls were geocaching and came to a river as it was getting dark out. They were trying to figure out how to get across and the first one said, "I'll shine the flashlight across the river and you can walk on the beam of light." The second girl says, "What, do you think I'm an idiot?! . . . I'll get half way across and you'll shut the light off . . ." smil3 Ha ha I love that one. Here is one more for your enjoyment. Two guys from Idaho rent a boat for a day of fishing. After trying several areas without catching anything they row to a place and begin catching fish with every cast. The first guy says, "hey we should mark this spot so we can come back." Not having a gpsr or the brains to use one, the second guy takes out a marker and puts an "X" in the bottom of the boat. The first guy sees this and comments, "You idiot. What good is that going to do? What if next time we don't get the same boat?" Sorry for the lame jokes but I had to do something for the day LOL.I hope you enjoyed at least one of them. Have a good night everyone and we will post a good one tomorrow. smil1

What your Logs say about you?

REMEMBER TO COMMENT ON THIS POST ALONG WITH THE OTHER POSTS IN THE 7 POSTS IN 7 DAYS CONTEST TO WIN A SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHORS OF 101 DEVIL CACHES GEOCACHING BOOK.  EASY ACCESS TO THEM ALL UNDER THE CONTEST TAB. THIS IS REALLY DAY 6 SO IF YOU ARE KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR ENTRIES, SORRY FOR THE NUMBERING ERROR.
I am not sure if this post is more of a rant or post. If it is a rant, I hope it makes the bitchycacher (quenn of caching rants) proud. I also hope it inspires all of you to “Change your words.”  I am starting this with something that made me stop and take a long hard look at myself and my impact on this world with “My WORDS.” Please take a minute and a half to watch this video, it is worth it.
Change your Words Change the World…Gave me goose bumps and inspiration.
Are you wondering how this relates to Geocahing? Besides the fact that the woman is probably a geocacher because she knows how to contribute to the world, it relates to the one area of caching that constantly drives me to cussing, LOGS.
Have you ever spent hours placing an amazing cache only to receive a TFTC log? Have you ever found a cache with 20+ favorite points and amazing logs with 5 or 6 TFTH logs mixed in? Have you ever gone out of your way to stock a cache with awesome SWAG only to have someone take it and not even acknowledge it? Have you ever spent weeks planning an event only to have someone write “I was there.” I have been to a  few caches where the cache owner has asked the cachers to include a fact specific to the cache in the log and hardly anyone does. Unfortunately these logs happens all too often.
Logging is a part of the game and it does matter. After we place a cache we have spent our time, money and creativity on, we are soo excited to read the logs. We check our e-mail constantly for days after the publishing just to read the logs. The logs make it worth it.
We get so excited to read about how much fun someone had or something neat they saw while at ground zero. We especially love the stories of those traveling in the area and stopping by one of our caches. There have even been times when we have been discouraged about geocaching and we will get a good log and it takes the doubt away.
One example of a good log was submitted by chris geertsen. He attended our Flashin in Fashion event and he spent hours turning the pictures into a picture journal type log of the event and wrote about each picture. Here are some pictures to see them all go to Flashin in Fashion Event Page look in the gallery.

This was a fun ideal on how to submit a great log. You don’t have to spend hours creating a log but it is fun to submit a photo from time to time, especially of a travel bug.  There are other amazing logs. Not all amazing logs have to be lengthy, sometimes a few words can say it all. It is also how you word your logs.
What logs really say:
LOG REAL MEANING
TFTC To Friggin Tasteless to Contribute:to the logging portion of the game
Quick Park & Grab I really had a hard time finding this but my ego is hurt and I won’t admit it
TNLN Try Not Logging Next time. This log is worse than no log at all.
SL Super Lazy
TFTH Thanks For The Hint-I had to read the previous quality logs to find this one.
TNLNSL Transit Not Located Near By So I Lied about finding it
TFTF Time For The Fake log-generally submitted by an armchair cacher
TNTFC Totally Neglected The Future of Caching
We are not saying you can’t throw a caching acronym in your log, however use them along with a real Thank You and additional comments. They are not meant as a complete log.
Things to think about when logging a cache:
  • Did I thank the owner?
  • Are there any logging requests by the owner I can include? Example*if cache is Matchbox car themed and asks finders to list their favorite car.
  • On cut and paste logs, have created a log I would want to read over and over again?
  • Could my log help another cacher find the cache?
  • Is this a log I would like to receive?
Your log is part of the cache and there until it is archived, make sure it is worthy to be part of the cache. I am not saying all caches are great and sometimes it is hard to think of things to write on caches that are not your favorite, in that case write of your adventure to or from the cache, the scenery or your caching companions.
Are you wondering how your logging skills rate? Go find out, My Geocaching Profile under the Miscellaneous stats is your average log length stat. You can also find this in GSAK. Below is my average found it log length stat:
cacheseekers!_miscstats
This is a fun way to see how your logs measure up.
I hope this post has inspired you to take a few extra minutes on your logs. Or maybe inspired you to become a better cacher by making your contribution to geocaching with your quality logs. Everyone adds something to the game, you might be a hider, a finder, a hider/finder, an event host or a rookie, whatever your role is you will enjoy it more by simply taking a few extra moments to submit a quality log. Who knows, your log might inspire a new hide, make someone's day, or change the face of the geocaching world.
Remember change your words and change the world! Please use this inspiration in your everyday life.
Happy Caching!

HOLY SWEET CACHE #6 The Cache Is Out There

holysweetcache5.3 This is day 5 of the 7 posts in 7 days 101 Devil Caches Book Giveaway make sure you comment on this post as well as the others, they are located under the contest tab.
GC46W9T The Cache Is Out There has been on my list of Holy Sweet Caches since March. This cache is a unique HOLY SWEET CACHE because it is not a cache we have found but is #1 on our dream caches list. This cache is up a beautiful trail in Hawaii. This cache is defiantly a Holy Sweet Cache because of the amazing trail and location it takes you to as well as the time it took to design the amazing cache page. It is worth a look!
The story of this cache is a neat one. We met kailua.cat&matt when they ordered some items from our LiveLoveCache.com Etsy Shop. There was room in the flat rate box so we asked them if they would move some travel bugs for us and they happily agreed. To thank them we included an Alien Cache. We figured this was the last we would see of that cache, wow were we wrong…..We were so honored to see they included our caching name in the page as well as an invitation for us to come find it. Below are the entries on the log page:
Helped place this cache with Kailua.Cat&Matt for cacheseekers! Hopefully one of these days they will make it out to this slice of serenity. I'm glad my neighborhood cachers can now enjoy this expansive hillside.

Placed out of this world cache with CelticGuardian and MentalBill. Hope you enjoy! TFTH Cacheseekers!-kailua.cat&matt holysweetcache5.0 Picture of the cache at a benchmark and sign installed by the boy scouts back in around 2005. holysweetcache5 This Picture is from atop the WWII bunkers that are just a few hundred feet away. It is overlooking Kaneohe Bay. In the distance you can see the Koolau Mountains and "Chinaman's Hat" (which is a little island right off of Kualoa Ranch). Kualoa Ranch you may recognize. Hollywood has used the area to shoot movies like Jurassic Park, Windwalkers, 50 First Dates, as well as the popular TV show Lost. holysweetcache5.1 Here is the Cache still overlooking Kaneohe Bay but towards Marine Corps Base Hawaii in the near background. Off to your right, but not in the picture, is an island that is known as "Gilligan's Island." To see more about this amazing trail, here is a link to a blog that highlights it. One day we want to go here! http://punynari.wordpress.com/2011/11/20/puu-maelieli-wwii-bunkers/. Thank you so much for this HOLY SWEET CACHE. If you don’t have a list of Dream Caches…start one and add this one! Happy Caching …leave your comments.
